Color/Texture
Unlike other hardwoods, hard maple usually utilizes more sapwood than its core. The color of the sapwood is close to white to milky white, sometimes with a hint of red or gold. The color of the core is dark reddish brown, and the formation of sparrows is usually hard maple. Although rare in other tree species, hard maple also has texture expressions such as rolled lines and flocculent shadows.
Price/Market Supply Situation/Certification (Sustainable Development)
The price of hard maple figured veneer in the market is moderate, slightly more expensive than soft maple, but good hard maple such as sparrow eye maple, rolled maple, and fluffy shadow maple will be more expensive. The hard maple is not certified as endangered and is not an endangered species of the World Conservation Union.
