What is Wood Veneer Sheet
Wood Veneer Sheet are thin sheets of wood, used to lend an elegant finish to various types of furniture, such as beds, cupboards, cabinets, and wall panels. Made from various wood species, such as mahogany, oak, black cherry, maple, bamboo, and ash, veneer sheets are usually pasted on relatively inexpensive substrates such as MDF, plywood, or blockboard. The result is highly durable, elegant, yet easy on the pocket surfaces that are bound to make an impression. Read on as we present six key benefits of using wood veneer sheets.
Benefits of Wood Veneer Sheet
More Affordable than Hardwood
Wood veneers offer a much more affordable option than hardwood furniture. Think of Brazilian rosewood, for instance, which is a rare and very expensive species of wood. If you want to purchase a bed made of Brazilian rosewood, you will need to shell out a hefty amount. On the contrary, if the same bed is made from another wood and have a layer of Brazilian rosewood veneer, it will have the same appearance but the overall cost will be much less compared to a bed entirely made from authentic Brazilian rosewood.
A Variety of Unique Choices
Every wood veneer sheet is unique in its design as it is derived from a specific tree; even in the same tree, there are different layers with unique patterns. The choices in wood veneers, therefore, are virtually endless. Moreover, unlike the laminates, veneers can be customized by polish and varnish, which enhances the wood veneer texture to give a new look to furniture.
Enhanced Strength and Durability
Veneer sheets not only lend elegance, but also enhance the durability of furniture items. Unsurfaced fiberboards, such as HDF and MDF are prone to damage if exposed to water, but that changes when they are fortified with veneer sheets. Wood veneer sheets, therefore, protect your furniture from damage and considerably increases their durability.
Luxurious Appeal
Whether we talk about residential or commercial spaces, décor is an important aspect that holds high significance for most property owners. No matter the application, the wood veneers for homes and commercial spaces accentuate the beauty of living spaces, giving them a luxurious appeal.
Non-Toxic
Wood veneers, unlike laminates, are natural products and generally non-toxic. Also, these days, there are non-toxic adhesives available in the market that do not emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are a known environmental pollutant. These adhesives can be effectively used with wood veneers to paste them on any type of substrate.
Eco-friendly
Wood veneers help protect the environment in the way that many veneers are manufactured from a single log, whereas more wood is needed for making conventional hardwood furniture. Also, wood veneer sheets can be easily recycled; they can be crushed and transformed .

Make sure the supplier complies with international quality standards

Look for certifications such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) which guarantees that the wood is responsibly sourced and meets stringent environmental regulations.
Process of Wood Veneer Sheet
Slicing
Once the logs arrive at the manufacturing site, they are first categorized based on their species. They are then softened by soaking them in water at a specific temperature. The temperature of the water depends on the density of the selected logs. After the logs get softened, they are sliced and the sheets are clipped along their edges and bundled together into groups depending on their size.
Grading
The next step involves grading and sorting of veneer sheets based on their quality. The veneer sheets are graded and sorted based on important factors such as grading, color, veneer grain pattern, and dimensions.
Squaring and Sheering
Once the layon is ready, it is trimmed at the ends to achieve the desired length. The layon is then stitched at the top and the bottom to prevent splitting. After that, it undergoes a final inspection to see if there's any need for repairs.
Pressing
The next step is to bond the perfectly squared layon onto a substrate such as MDF, Plywood, Coth, or Kraft Backing. The bond is pressed under hot and cold presses to ensure a solid bond between the layon and substrate. Uses eco-friendly, urea-free, water-based adhesives to bond the layon to the substrate.
Sheering and Sanding
After the pressing process, the next step is to give the veneer its aesthetic appeal. In this step, the veneers are carefully and thoroughly sanded and sheared to enhance their feel and remove excess veneer, if any.
Quality Control
Our is known for premium quality products partly due to its strict quality control. The quality control step involves a final quality assessment where the veneers are checked to ensure they qualify on all parameters. Some of the parameters that the veneers are assessed on include – thickness, moisture content, type of core material, and construction methods.
How to Maintain Wood Veneer Sheet
Dust and Clean on a Regular Basis
Regularly dusting and cleaning the wood veneer surface is important to remove accumulated surface particles. This helps maintain the cleanliness of the veneer and prevents potential damage over time. To accomplish this, use a soft cloth or microfiber duster to gently remove dust and debris from the surface.
Use Coasters and Trivets
Using coasters and trivets is essential to prevent damage from heat and moisture. Placing them under glasses, mugs, and hot dishes creates a protective barrier, preventing heat-related issues such as stains, warping, or other damage to the veneer. This practice helps maintain the veneer's integrity and prolong its lifespan.

Protect from Direct Sunlight and Heat
Prolonged exposure to sunlight can lead to fading and discoloration, while heat can cause warping or cracking. It is, therefore, important to protect wood veneer from direct sunlight and heat to preserve its appearance. Install curtains, blinds, or window films to reduce sunlight intensity.
Maintain a Consistent Environment
Fluctuations in temperature and humidity can cause the veneer to expand, contract, warp, or crack. To mitigate the risks, and maintain a consistent environment, avoid placing veneered furniture near heat sources or in areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
Don'ts of Wood Veneer Sheet Maintenance
Don't Use Harsh Cleaners or Abrasive Materials
Using harsh cleaners or abrasive materials can damage the delicate surface of wood veneer. Instead, opt for mild, non-abrasive wood cleaners specifically designed for wood surfaces. This ensures gentle yet effective cleaning without compromising the veneer's integrity.
Don't Expose to Excessive Moisture or Liquids
Exposure to excessive moisture or liquid can cause significant damage to wood veneer. It can lead to swelling, warping, or delamination, compromising its structural integrity. Therefore, it is crucial to promptly wipe up spills and avoid using excessively wet cloths during cleaning to protect the veneer from these harmful effects.
Don't Drag or Slide Objects Across the Surface
Dragging or sliding objects directly on the wood veneer surface can result in unsightly scratches and damage. To preserve the veneer's smooth and flawless appearance, and prevent unnecessary wear and tear, follow simple precautions like lifting objects instead of dragging them.
Don't Ignore Signs of Damage
Ignoring signs of damage on wood veneer can lead to further deterioration and compromise its overall condition. Make sure you address any cracks, chips, or visible issues promptly. Take immediate action, such as seeking professional assistance to prevent further damage and to maintain the veneer's quality and aesthetics.
