When different types of hickory and Pecan (all belonging to the hickory genus) are mixed together, dealers will sell them under the name of hickory, and the market price is moderately low, depending on the availability of information. Compared to other varieties of the hickory genus, hickory has lower hardness, but it is also a relatively hard wood species native to the United States. Pecan belongs to the hickory family, but it is different from other hickorys in that its shell is thin.
